Ed Sheeran reveals why he dug his grave in home’s backyard

The 2016 Grammy award victor revealed his intention to create a final resting place, not for himself, but for the convenience of his family and descendants to pay their respects after he departs this world.

“Some might find it unusual or even morbid,” he acknowledged, “but I’ve witnessed friends departing without leaving wills, leaving everyone in a state of uncertainty.”

Addressing misconceptions about constructing a “crypt” on his property, the celebrated singer clarified, “I wouldn’t classify it as a crypt.” Instead, it serves as a heartfelt tribute to those who have been respectfully cremated.

Ed Sheeran’s poignant gesture appears to be a response to the profound losses he has endured in recent years. In 2021, he mourned the passing of his mentor, Michael Gudinski, followed by the loss of his close friend Jamal Edwards the subsequent year. Tragically, a few weeks later, he bid farewell to his dear friend and cricketer, Shane Wane.
