Indian teen travels to Hyderabad to watch Babar Azam play

Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team’s captain, enjoys a widespread fan base that transcends borders, with one notable admirer residing in India. Alisha, a 15-year-old from Bhopal, India, is a dedicated fan of Babar Azam, whose image graces the back of her mobile phone cover. She embarked on a journey to Hyderabad solely to witness her favorite cricketer in action during the ongoing ICC World Cup.

In the stands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Alisha stood out as one of the few spectators passionately supporting Pakistan in their match against the Netherlands. She draped herself in a green scarf and waved Pakistan’s flag, becoming a notable addition to Hyderabad’s enthusiastic cricket audience.

Alisha, accompanied by her mother, rivaled even the famous Chicago-based Pakistani fan, Mohammad Bashir. Despite challenges faced by Pakistani fans obtaining visas to India, local Indian supporters like Alisha have stepped up to express their backing for the Green Shirts.

Speaking to PTI, Alisha revealed her long-standing admiration for Babar Azam and her family’s shared love for cricket, particularly veteran Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Javed Miandad. She expressed her hope for improved relations between the two countries and looks forward to securing a ticket for the highly anticipated Pakistan vs. India match on October 10, vowing to stay in Hyderabad to witness the rivalry unfold.
