Motorcyclist arrested for harassing female university students in Karachi

The Karachi law enforcement authorities have successfully apprehended the motorcyclist responsible for a disturbing incident that unfolded on one of the city’s bustling thoroughfares last week. This unsettling event, captured in a viral video recorded by one of the vehicle’s occupants, involved the man engaging in indecent behavior and exposing himself to female university students, an act that ignited widespread public outrage over the escalating crimes against women within our society.

In the video, the perpetrator can be seen pursuing and harassing the female students during broad daylight on Rashid Minhas Road. This brazen behavior prompted Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police Riffat Mukhtar to take immediate cognizance of the disgraceful incident.

The victims in this distressing incident were students hailing from the esteemed University of Karachi. While they were en route in a vehicle, the suspect, riding a motorcycle, aggressively pursued and harassed them in close proximity to the UBL Sports Complex, situated opposite the Lucky One Mall.

Notably, none of the victims initially reported the incident to the police. Consequently, the law enforcement authorities initiated legal proceedings against the suspect on behalf of the state, with the case registered through a police officer at the Joharabad police station.

To uncover further evidence and ascertain the identity of the suspect, the police commenced a comprehensive investigation, obtaining crucial CCTV footage from the vicinity. Subsequently, after diligent efforts, law enforcement personnel successfully arrested the suspect during a targeted operation near Federal B Area’s block 15. In addition to his apprehension, a body search led to the discovery of illicit drugs in his possession, warranting the initiation of another case against him.
